Officials in Oberlin have a new tool to help ensure they are giving the residents what they need.

This tool is in the form of a 108-page binder holding the results of a recent phone poll, online survey, focus groups and individual interviews completed by the Impact Group, a public relations firm hired by the city to increase communication between the administration and the community.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich announced Monday that the Ohio Investigative Unit has formed anti-regional human trafficking groups to help youths and adults who may be potential victims.

Avon Lake Regional Water raises new water tower bowl

A new edifice is gracing the Avon Lake skyline.

Avon Lake Regional Water officials gathered June 19 to celebrate the raising of the bowl for their new water tower in the 33000 block of Walker Road.

Todd Danielson, chief utilities executive for Avon Lake Regional Water, said the raising of the bowl is a milestone toward the goal to modernize the city's utility service.

CINCINNATI >> An American college student who was released by North Korea in a coma has died in Ohio. Otto Warmbier was 22.

The family announced his death in a statement released by UC Health Systems, saying, "It is our sad duty to report that our son, Otto Warmbier, has completed his journey home.

Rock Hall to expand to Japan this year

NEW YORK >> The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame plans to expand - into the House of the Rising Sun.

The Cleveland-based museum has announced plans to create a permanent presence in Tokyo. A short-term exhibit will open in September.

Hall of Fame President and CEO Greg Harris says, "Japan is the second-largest music market in the world, making it the perfect place for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's first international expansion.

Safety Town underway at new Lorain High School location

Members of the Lorain Police Department, city officials and community members gathered June 19 to celebrate the opening of Lorain City Schools' Safety Town.

This will be the first class to graduate from the annual safety school in their new digs at Lorain High School, 2600 Ashland Ave.

Previously, the classes were held at the old Southview High School, located at 2270 E.

The Amherst Police Station was contacted by Watertown Connecticut Police Department about Stevie Martinez, the release said.

An Elyria man accused of stabbing a man and carjacking others was arrested June 17 in Elyria, according to Elyria police report.

Brandel Baylock, 24, of Vine Street, was charged with felonious assault and robbery following the incident around 11:40 p.m. in the area of Middle Avenue and Second Street, the report said.

CINCINNATI >> Jurors began deliberations Monday in the murder retrial of a white University of Cincinnati police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black motorist after pulling him over for a missing front license plate.

The panel will reconvene Tuesday morning. The jurors were sequestered Monday evening after about three hours of deliberations.

Ohio officials have taken to Twitter to express their condolences in the tragic death of U.S. Navy Fire Controlman First Class Gary Leo Rehm.

Rehm, 37, of Elyria and six other sailors died June 17 after a USS Fitzgerald destroyer collided with a container ship off Japan, according to a June 18 article from Associated Press.

A presentation from GPD Group showed schematics for a new elementary school in Amherst, on June 19.

Rodwell King, design manager, and Aaron Rodebaugh, project manager, of GPD Group in Akron, described how the project at the Harris Elementary site evolved at 393 S. Lake St. in Amherst.

Speaking with staff and citizens gave designers good direction toward meeting community expectations for the new building, King said.

COLUMBUS >> A southwest Ohio airport has received mobile radar equipment to help with research on drones.

The Springfield News-Sun reports the equipment at the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport came through state and federal grants.

An official with the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton says the equipment will be used to test beyond line of sight operation of the unmanned aircraft.
